About the Video Recording Mandate
Any and all police questioning in major crimes must be recorded on video starting in April. This applies to all law enforcement agencies in the state of New York.
- Must be enforced the entire time the suspect is in custody
- Includes homicide, sexual assault robbery and other Part I crimes as defined by the FBI
- Must comply with proper retention policies where applicable
